Mobile homes are exempt from building regulations, for a log cabin to be assessed as a mobile home it must be under 6.8m wide x 20m long (but not less than 7m) x 3.05m high internally. Being exempt from building regulation means that these buildings can be insulated with a lower grade of insulation than building regulations would normally demand. The lack of building regulation ensures that a real cost saving can be made & without any noticeable loss in energy performance. Additionally, as a mobile home does not fall under building regulation specification, its concrete base generally doesn't either...
